Born in Manitoba, gemstones were never a part of Jeff’s early life. It wasn’t until he met his partner in 1997 that he was first introduced to the industry. During a trip to Sri Lanka in the early 2000’s, Jeff’s brother-in-law gave him a Nava Ratna to bring back to Canada as a sample with the instruction to showcase the gemstones to local jewellers and goldsmiths. Long story short, the quality was unbeatable and the demand was apparent; in 2004, Colour your World with Gems was established. Over the last 20 years, Jeff has continued to grow the business into what it is today, alongside his son, Nathan. With a wide array of clients and a fantastic selections of pieces, we have become a prominent name within the coloured gemstone industry. Having travelled to Sri Lanka many times with his family as well as solo, he has fostered a strong love of the country and culture while having the opportunity to experience the gemstone industry first hand; and hand selecting top quality pieces straight from the source. He remains the face of the company and will continue to provide spectacular pieces for many more years to come!
NATHAN BARON
Being the son of Jeff, gemstones were and still remain a major part of Nathan’s life. Working within the industry for so many years, he has developed a strong understanding of the sourcing, processing and marketing of Sri Lankan gemstones. Having travelled to Sri Lanka numerous times with his father and mother, he too has garnered a love and passion for the beautiful country. After assisting and working alongside Jeff for over 15 years, Nathan is beginning to oversee and transition the business over, keeping the family enterprise a strong force. Establishing reliable connections with our suppliers and the next generation of industry employees in Sri Lanka is an important aspect of the future success of Colour your World with Gems and he is excited to take on this new endeavour; he looks forward to working with our devoted and new clients!
